I haven't been to the museum and I can't say your blog has encouraged me to plan a trip there. I hope people undersand that this conduct on a national level is not an aberration. This type of conduct has happened often and everywhere. The Germans were not much different than any other group. We too could easily descend into that moral neverland given certain circumstances and certain kinds of leadrship. I wonder what part of the human spirit allows for this depravity. We are capable of such beauty and of such ugliness... i wonder who's next.

Great post. I've been to the museum twice and had a very similar experience. I remember seeing the exhibit on the ship, Exodus and how thousands of Jews could have escaped the Nazis if only one country would have taken them in. It makes you have sympathy for the idea of the State of Israel. Speaking of Israel, they have a holocaust museum there called Yad Vashem that is equally powerful. The Israeli Defense Force has all of their soldiers visit at least once, so that they are clear as to what the stakes are for them.

Very powerful blog representing something so horrific that I can't even grasp its magnitude. Haven't been to DC in a very long time but....this reminds me there is much to be learned there!
